Synthroid Weight Loss Considerations

7286Synthroid Weight Loss Considerations

If you are hypothyroid, gaining a mild amount of weight, such as five to twenty pounds, is a common effect, as is difficulty with taking that weight off again. However, there is no such thing as a Synthroid weight loss plan that makes taking higher levels of the medication a good idea. If you boost your dose, you will not lose weight in a hurry. Indeed, if your medication’s active ingredient is levothyroxine, and you take too much, you can end up with weak bones and muscles as well as serious heart issues.

This means that thinking there is a Synthroid weight loss connection is a serious mistake. If you have a plan to take Synthroid to lose weight, make sure to check with your physician. If your thyroid hormone thyroxine is already at a normal level, stay watchful for the best choice, as the wrong choices can lead to life-threatening conditions.

So how do you stay physically active in a day and age when every force is pushing you against that effectiveness and efficiency?

First of all, never use Synthroid or any other thyroid hormone for the treatment of any weight-related condition. If you have a normal thyroid level, Synthroid dosages will not help you lose weight. If you take elevated doses to try to kick start the process, you can end up with even more serious side effects, particularly when you combine it with other drugs whose purpose is to control your appetite.

Another important aspect to mention in this article about Synthroid weight loss is that you must notify your doctor if you have any allergies to medicines or foods, are pregnant or are about to start trying to have a family, are on any other medications or are breast feeding, so that he can give you the best advice. After you start the regimen, notify your physician if any of the following becomes true: chest pain, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, headache, leg cramps, irritability, nervousness, appetite change, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, excessive sweating or other unpleasant side effects.

Just to reiterate — you should not take Synthroid, either by itself or as part of multi-medicine regimen, to lose weight or treat obesity. If you have normal levels of thyroid, the doses do not help you lose weight. Even if you boost the doses to higher than the recommended level, you will not experience weight loss. Instead, you are likely to run into some other health problems as a result.

There are some other situations in which you should always stay away from Synthroid. If you are worried about infertility but are not hypothyroid, do not start Synthroid. If you are hyperthyroid, definitely stay away from Synthroid.

If you are hypothyroid and need the benefit of Synthroid, it can take a few weeks before it begins to work, and the doctor may adjust the dosage and other elements of the prescription. Just remember that it is not a tool for weight loss. If you use it that way, you can harm your health.
