It is not every day that a plus-size woman manages to make a huge name for herself in Hollywood. When American Ferrera first starred on “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” she had no idea that her stardom would one day be as large as it is now. Once “Ugly Betty” became a hit, she was thrown into the spotlight. For America Ferrera weight loss was definitely on her mind at this time.

In interviews, Ferrera has admitted that it was very difficult being thrown into the spotlight when she was as large as she was. While she is much smaller than many women out there, that did not make her feel any less self-conscious about the amount of weight that she carried around. She wanted to be known as that great actress who got on the screen and wowed the crowd instead of just another plus-sized actress.

In 2012. Ferrera did an interview with Cosmopolitan for Latinas. At this time, she reported that she was tired of sticking to diets because it did not make a lot of difference in her weight or the image that she has of herself. She admitted that it was very difficult for her to walk to red carpet or appear in photo shoots. When you watch her grace the screen and act like her life depends on it, you would never believe that she felt this way.

Of course being in the spotlight opened her up to a lot of compliments. Unlike many celebs, Ferrera finds it very hard to accept a compliment. Instead of graciously accepting the praise that is bestowed upon her, she silently asks herself whether or not she is deserving of this praise. This was probably one of the main reasons that the America Ferrera weight loss journey had to take a turn.

If you have been paying any attention, you would know that Ferrera is now quite smaller than she has ever been since she reached the pinnacle of stardom. While some speculate that she may have had a bit of surgical help, odds are that this is not the way that she chose to handle all of the excess weight.

Ferrera chooses to ignore most of the comments about her weight and instead tries to focus on more important things in life, like her husband and the fact that she recently graduated from college. These are great accomplishments for someone that does not always feel that she is as good as others like to think. The good thing is that she is at a healthy weight.
