Fitness and good health is a market that rakes in millions upon millions worldwide. And it is no wonder, because everyone wants to live healthy and improve their lifestyle both physically and mentally. However it is not always an easy hunt. Especially because everyone has their 2 cents to add when it comes to fitness. For example, if you were to type the single word “fitness” into any search engine you would be surprised at the close to millions of articles that have been produced on the subject.

So the big question is, what is truly most important when it comes to fitness? Let’s take a closer look at the answer to this question, and as we do imagine how easy it will be knowing there are only 3 main principles that must be covered. Most people feel fitness is defined by a person going to the gym religiously lifting weights and taking supplements. Well that just is not the case. Fitness involves all forms of a healthy lifestyle, and there are some basic dos and don’ts to truly be fit. Let’s take a look.

The first principle on the list is variety. When it comes to nutrition, it almost goes without saying that variety is going to be an important aspect. Our bodies need many nutrients and vitamins to be healthy and function correctly. It also plays a major role in development and maintenance. The trick is no one food or food group has all of them. So variety will ensure you get the nutrients you need.

In the case of physical activity, variety will pose its benefits too. If you only worked out one part of your body frequently, physical fatigue is almost certain to set in, and you may have issues with proportion. Whereas using a workout with variety ensures an overall fitness and physical health.

The second principle is balance. In any diet you will have to be balanced in what you eat. Eating too much, of course, will add to issues with weight and other health problems. Eating too little can leave your body flushed, devoid of energy, lacking nutrients and overall not fit and unhealthy.

Your workout will need to be balanced as well. While you may feel working out non-stop can be a plus, it may actually have a detrimental effect on your body if rest is not included. Studies have shown that rest can be almost as important as the workout itself. So be balanced in your routine.

Lastly is the principle of fun. If you truly enjoy what you are doing, are you really working? No, you are having fun. Enjoying not only your workout routine, but the diet you choose will have a beneficial effect not only on your fitness level, but your desire to continue such a healthy routine. So in the world of fitness, it doesn’t matter which workout routine and which diet you choose to undertake, as long as you include variety, balance, and fun.
